"Golf story"

Zanim wyruszę na północ Islandii (docelowy kierunek wyprawy - miescowość Isafjorður), postanowiłam szybciutko nadrobić zaległości z poprzedniej. Przedstawiam zatem kolejne zdjęcia z rejonu wspominanego już Stykkishólmur, tam stacjonowałam na polu namiotowym w ubiegłym tygodniu.

Wśród mieszkańców północnej części globu golf staje się coraz bardziej popularnym sposobem na spędzanie wolnego czasu. Pola golfowe znajdują sie niemalże na terenie całego kraju, także jest w czym wybierać.

Snæfellsjökull

Snæfellsjökull – stratowulkan, którego szczyt przykryty jest lodowcem. Znajduje się na Islandii, na półwyspie Snæfellsnes, na południe od Ólafsvík, w Parku Narodowym Snæfellsjökull (isl. Þjóðgarðurinn Snæfellsjökull). 
Wysokość: 1446 m n.p.m.
Juliusz Verne umieścił tu akcję swojej książki: "Podróż do wnętrza Ziemi".

Reykjavik z wieży Hallgrímskirkja

Kolorowe domki Reykjaviku widziane z wieży kościoła Hallgrimskirkja (74,5 m wysokości, drugi najwyższy budynek w Islandii). 
Kościół nosi imię islandzkiego poety i duchownego luterańskiego Hallgrmura Péturssona.

Homage to Sólon í Slunkaríki
Sólon Guðmundsson (1860-1931) was a worker and eccentric poet in Isafjorður, a hermit and peculiar in his ways, named after his house, Slunkaríki. In his later years he built a hut, where everything was to be opposed to the traditional, the corrugated iron on the inside and the wallpaper on the outside.
Asked why, Sólon answered: "Wallpaper is for decoration, dearest, and therefore it´s sensible to have it where most people can enjoy it." Sólon died before the construction was completed.
